Yea, The prices for skylake have been bouncing all over the place since they were initially released.

The reason...

1. Supposedly, low yield issues.
2. Thin pcb, some large air coolers can break them.

Their yields aren't that low.
Its just everyone is trying to buy them atm.


Also; I HIGHLY doubt coolers are breaking the cpu, As they dont mount to the cpu but to the mounting brackets.

I have however seen people breaking them left/right trying to delid with a vice/Hammer/etc. because of t he PCB on skylake being roughly 40% thinner.

It's prebuilt Pc's with skylake, Breaking in shipping because of larger coolers. Not really new, Although it does happen more with skylake.
