I use two 27" 1440p IPS 60Hz panels. I much prefer this to 144hz TN. It's a matter of perspective. I think a 75Hz IPS is a good compromise.

yes IPS does look crispy and better for ui designers, etc.

however, not for gaming. 144hz or bust.

No real reason to compromise though. I run 27" 1440p IPS 144hz panels. Not to show anybody up, but in case there was confusion, you can get all of it in one panel.
