i had a very good experience with ncix. bought a whole computer from them no issues.

So you bought one thing from ncix.

That must make you very knowledgeable in their practices.

This drive is clunking as well. I guess it is normal for the newer blacks.

Time to figure out how to put the drive to sleep after inactivity. In Linux I set the standby time to 5 seconds and the drive span down and the clunking stopped so it must be possible in windows.

Could of swore I had the performance option for HDD spin down set to 20 minutes but the drive was clunking all night.

I need to find some rubber o rings to sound dampen this clunking though. Jesus it's driving me mad.

Found some large half inch wide rubber bands. Going to try wrapping them around the hard drive then screw it in place. See if it helps with the clunking at all.
The Nzxt s360 doesn't have much room for rubber washers in the HDD cage.

Might drill out the rivets and make a custom rubber band HDD mount to absorb all the noise.

Well this chapter is finally closed.

The drive still clicks but I minimized the noise so it's not as apparently unless you're listening in for it.

Also determined that windows HDD power saving features suck ass compared to Linux. Like seriously I can set the spin down time to 1 minute and it won't spin down for 15 minutes. In Linux it works exactly when it's supposed to and you can even set the standby time per drive!

Anyways time to run checksums on me 200gb of files I just transfered back.

The 2.5" Laptop HDD's dont make a lot noise compared to 3.5" desktop HDDs.

They are also slower.

they're also not very durable in drops during operation
100% best option is always to replace physical drives in a laptop with solid state ones. m.2 is great for this if the laptop supports that, low power usage & lightweight, and low profile.

They have 7200 RPM laptop drives. I can't stand the vibration noise of a 3.5" HDD.
