I literally ran into the same issue this week. Hopped on to play some D2R for the first time this season... I'd recently upgraded my PC, was using 4 D2R clients before the upgrade...

Now on a better CPU, and more / faster RAM it is crashing constantly.

Found out that D2R doesn't like XMP. Google it.

I ran memory test, and they test out fine with XMP enabled, but D2R crashes with it enabled. Solid w/ it disabled.

Hmm. I ran it at first without XMP. My Pc default it was turned off. Still happened.
I went into bios and enabled it . Now it crashes less often. It will freeze now and pull it self out of it with XMP enabled.
I read that its the new windows 24h2 update that messed it up. Im about to upgrade my ram and see if that helps.
