When did they change that?

I always used x86 versions on Windows 7/8 usbs when I do my installs, and they are 64bit lol

x86 was used back in the 80's as shorthand for compatible with Intel 8086 processors which was 16 bit. It was carried over to the 32 bit processors 80386 and 80486. Hence the x86.
