To FAN Control or NOT to FAN Control...

When considering fan speeds and the resultant noise....there are TWO options.

1. Use a fan controller...looks pretty, gives you some knobs to twist, or touch controls to touch.
2. Think ahead and buy Fans that are the noise level and airflow you desire in the first place. Plug them all into Power Supply, so they run at 100% always.

Reason that option 2 is the smart option.

1. Fan Controllers cost more than fans.
2. Fans plugged directly into power supply don't put excessive strain on the motherboard power circuits.
3. Fan Controllers break more often that fans do.
4. As I mentioned above...there are so many good quality high air flow / low noise fans, that there is no longer any need for fan controllers.
5. When you think about it...it's much more desirable to have to replace a fan than either a fan controller OR (even worse) a computer component or two, because the fan controller didn't work properly.

What fan company/companies do you recommend?

/e: What specs are crucial when it comes to purchasing fans?
