Can you pick parts with a price range of around 850-900. I can't go higher than that. And I'll see if I can just get a straight refund

I doubt you can get a straight refund...but...gimme a few.

What is the honest difference between i5 and i7. Like what benefits does the i7 provide?

this i5 is a quad core

like the i7s

its a good gaming cpu

as far as vs the one you had/have

http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i5-6500-vs-Intel-Core-i5-6400/3513vs3512

ofc you could swap in an i5-7500 for a few more dollars (8$)

I just don't understand the difference in your build and his build. Idk what's better. Both are more than my price range but if it's worth it and I can get my refund I'll do it. But again I have no idea what I'm looking at

No I meant the refund is the money I have to use so I'd rather keep the price around that. My fiance already hates I'm spending so much on a computer, not trying to push my limits. So about 950 would be my max
