Z97: dunno. Should be interesting seeing it in most games vs the generic i5/i7 from intel. Tbh they just need to make a cut down quad core with 8 threads and up the clocks at like 4.2-4.4 and they'd have a winner for sure
GRATS: why the fuck would you think the clocks matter lol
GRATS: the 5ghz pentiums underperform 2ghz skylakes
Z97: you're not getting my point.
GRATS: IPC is all that matters & zens is so much higher 3ghz > 4ghz
GRATS: their 6 core & maybe 4 core are Q2
Z97: cut down the 8 core crap and make it a quad. Up IPC a bit and give it some more base clock. All I know is I'll believe the hype once people start OCing them and how they handle it
GRATS: quads are garbage
Z97: what
GRATS: quad cores are garbage
GRATS: only reason you people think they're worth having is cuz intel had no real competition and you think sitting on it is good
GRATS: tfw you can barely multi task with anything running high end
GRATS: even the 6950X struggles on shit
GRATS: there's no reason to have a quad core unless it's really cheap when 8 core single threaded performance is better than your competitions quad cores
Z97: All depends on the OC friend. The 7700 can hit 5 ghz which has been done plenty of times. Wait until more people can test it. All I'm going to say. They my have a winner this time but for how long
GRATS: no it doesn't
GRATS: do you not understand what IPC is?
GRATS: they don't even need to OC and it's btfoing 7700K at 5ghz
GRATS: and the tdp is retarded low
Z97: alright, this conversation is starting to be over. I fully understand what they can do. You take a 5 GHZ 7700k vs whatever the max potential of the 1800x and we will see. I'll wait for the actual benchmarks to come out. Yes I will agree the TDP is good on the 8 core i'm glad they cut it down. In theory yes it should OC well, however the full story hasn't been told yet. I'm leaving it at that.
GRATS: and since the autism of 4 cores are good is dying and graphics APIs are finally starting to use more cores, it will be better & better to have more and more cores
GRATS: you keep saying should OC well
GRATS: OC has already been done
GRATS: and it still doesn't matter
GRATS: because it doesn't need to OC to be better
GRATS: you make no sense
GRATS: and you don't understand what IPC is
Z97: it does matter...
GRATS: because when 3ghz underclocked shit is doing better than 5ghz it really doesn't.. since intel hasn't produced better IPC in 6 years
Z97: I'll wait for actually benchmarks before it gets praised. I'm glad for AMD yes it's cool and yes I may consider buying one of their new chips if it makes sense. Also another reason why people aren't super on board with them yet is due to the PCI-e lanes. Say what you will, i don't really care honestly. Overclocking will play a huge roll in what they offered. 99% of people don't even use more than 4 cores as it is that just game.
GRATS: All graphics APIs in the past 4 years use infinite threads
GRATS: I forgot how dumb people from CHD were
GRATS is now Offline.
Wow AMD nerd rage LOL
You both are right, it depends on the game tbh. Take a look at Black Desert for example. Utilizes multiple physical cores bigly, and a R7 would be a powerhouse budget for it
