just some things to look at when you get the pc since you said you're new
pins on the cpu, make sure they're not bent, missing, etc
gold pins on connections for ram/gpu
check the insolation on all the wires, make sure it's in good shape, not burnt or striped or anything.
Also, if you do happen to get the comp and it's in good shape and you decide to use it, buy 8gb more ram
