Hey Ghot.

I ask you because this dishwasher is as old as you are.

The thermostat is fucked and I am wondering if I can replace it with one with slightly higher temperature ratings. The current one is 77C - 86C, and one I can source locally is like 80C - 90C.

Can't find the part number on the thing because it was scratched out so the local dishwasher stores are not of any use since they don't have the model I told them listed in their database.

At this point I am just going to say fuck it and short the wires together just to get the thing working lol. If it blows up I'll buy a new one since the part itself as listed from the retailer for a different model is like 30-60$.

In the past, in similar situations, I get the make and model of the dishwasher and then call them and ask where to acquire the thermostat.

Anyone know which style tips are the best? I've been using the pointed style all this time but I've heard chisel style is better.

I always used Weller and both kinds of tips...as for solder suckers, I like the cheap plastic or aluminum ones, like this:
