/e Also, there were no Vulcans in Star Wars. :D

Exactly. This is why who ever made that image had no idea what they were referencing.

The date was chosen for the easy pun on the catchphrase "May the Force be with you"— "May the Fourth be with you". Even though the holiday was not actually created or declared by Lucasfilm, many Star Wars fans across the world choose to celebrate the holiday.

You seem to forget. I was alive when Star Trek and Star Wars, first came out, which happened on May 25th 1977...NOT on the fourth. But what can ya expect from Canadians. :D

On July 4, 2012, a corrupted computer file made all the San Diego Bay fireworks go off at once.

Did you just choose to read why that specific date was chosen?

Here let me copy paste it again:

This has nothing to do with the date the films were initially released. Maybe you are confusing the term birthday for holiday or something.

The date chosen was to satisfy the pun, not because it was the initial release date. That's the entire point of the pun, to make it seem like you're saying "may the force be with you".

Which is why the initial image didn't make sense because this pun/date combination was directed towards star wars and not star trek.

Edit:: the only real excuse that person who made the image had for doing this was to be ironic.

Exactly why I chose it for the 4th of July.

It obviously has nothing whatsoever to do with Star Wars. :D

/e See, here's the deal with puns. You can't see what could be a pun, then just change history to make it work.
A true pun only happens when you don't have to adjust reality to make it work. :)

That reference is in reference to the date "May 4th" also known as starwars day.

Basically who ever made that image has no idea about the reference nor the sub culture behind it.

The bolded part, is what I have issue with.
