lol'd

chuckled.

He doesn't play games anymore. I think he quit playing D2 in 2010; after 10 years it does get boring.

lmfao! Do you really need to ask? lol.... If you notice the picture got has two back ups on two different drives. So essentially he has the originals, a back up, and a back up to the back up. lol

Pfft, I know why he has them, But 9 is a bit excessive imo.

D2 , get boring?

I believe, I truly do...however...I don't have anything big enough to hold the data while I create the RAID  :/

Get a third and go raid 5!

Then I'd need a 4th to hold the 500GB of data and crap I have :/
It's just dumb that creating a raid 1 should destroy the data on both 1TB drives ...this is 2012, we can model the weather and solar events, etc., but we can't make a RAID1 with out destroying the data :(

There are some RAID cards that can build a RAID 1 array without formatting... ie setting one drive as the master and basically recreating the array with the 2nd drive.

But, that depends on the card.... I doubt that would be a feature of on board raid tho. But maybe it is.

Summoning SurfPunk !!

This is how HDD's are currently set up...I want to RAID 1 .... the two 1TB drives, without losing the data or partitions on at least one of them.

I have about 500GB of data total on either of the two 1TB drives. I don't have anything big enough to hold that much data, except like 100 or so DVD's :/...and zero funds atm....so we need a free solution :)

/edit ...I have at minimum 405GB of data to store somewhere if I do a data-destructive RAID 1 setup

go to a best buy or w/e & buy a 1tb or 2tb external hdd , use it to move the data in it.
setup the raid & move back the data in it.
return to best buy & say you're unhappy with the product & want a refund.
call it a day :3

I have about 155GB free on the 1st drive and I have a spare 250GB HDD...which is just about the exact amount of data I have to move...but I'm ask a friend first...i think he has a 2TB external he cud let me use for a day ^^

/e or maybe I'll just leave the way it is...that way...if I needed to....I could just grab one of the 1TB's and take to friends house or something ^^

/ee ...or best of all would be some software that can sync the two 1TB's so w/e I do to one...it does to the other :D

Well I found the tool to do the job....

It's called Karen's Replicator, take about 30 secs to mirror my two 1TB's..had to set up three "jobs" called: Programs, OS BckUps and Media. They are set to run daily in middle of night...however..to to that the program must run as a process all the time...so you can just exit the Replicator program...and once every hour or cpl hours or days...just run it.

Karen's Replicator: http://www.karenware.com/powertools/powertools.asp

There are a few other tasty tools at her site...but this is the only one I've tested so far...seems to work fine....like: On-Demand.... Raid 1 :D
