Intel avoids using the term 'finfet' describe their closely related tri-gate architecture
Anybody could Wiki that.
Finfet is basically the same MOSFET they've been using but just introducing a gate to increase the number of transistors they can use.

IBM first used it in 2004. So, basically it's over a decade old technology. It may be the first time in GPU use, but it's not like they're making some grand discovery. All they're doing is "borrowing" someone else's technology and making it look like they've done something spectacular.
All they did is take a standard MOSFET and put a gate into it to increase the number of transistors which increases power and decreases the energy consumption. With HBM you have an actual stack of chips which provides a direct route through. It basically does the same thing but at a much faster speed.
