I was electronics tech in the service for 7 years,,,psent most of my time with radiomen...fixing w/e they broke.

After a while picked up on some of their abbreviations fm = from ...the whole U.S. Military uses that one.

The funny part here is ...most of the posters on JSP have been creating their own version of English, aka, yolo, lol, lel, tl;dr ...ad infinitum. I happen to use ONE abbreviation that's been used all over the world for 30 years in communications...and you all are mystified.

Btw Yo is another one from the military...it's faster than ...Hey you...in emergencies etc. After a while it just becomes a shorthand way to get someones attention. Yo is also a response, as in Ok men, is everyone ready...everyone yells YO!
Another use of yo, is again a response to a roll call. Like when whoever is in command calls your name you answer yo.
