I am going to get the surround sound when I move in to my new place. I will probably go for the ~$300+ option.

Not being an audiophile of any kind- I'm interested in hearing some of these crazy expensive set ups as compared to the cheaper ones and see if I can even tell the difference with m naked ear

e) Theres good reviews on the dayton centER (*wonders if youre canadian* / huge red wings fan ) . But then theres some critical reviews saying it has poor sound quality past certain 350/150 hz points. I dont know anything about that stuff. Just thought I'd mention I doubt I could even tell the difference anyways

You have to assign the optical to one of the inputs on the receiver (DVD/CD/MD/DTV/CBL, etc)

SET Menu > Manual Setup > Input Menu > Input Assign Select the appropriate Optical input (either Optical 2 or 3), pick what input the optical audio gets assigned to, then switch to that input when playing audio from the computer.

It was just a setting with his sound card, Didnt have it set up right.
