At full load a 1080ti can use 300+ watts on air, no way a 750 is enough when you still need like 150 for the rest of the system.

Glad you opted for the single card.

And I believe you when you say the 970's were fine, but at stock speeds are 145 watt cards, vs the 1080 ti is 250+. Going from <300 watt sli to 500+ watt is a hefty heat difference.

It came down to a lack of SLI support for 90% of games today. Mordhau doesn't support SLI so I didn't need to get 2 1080 ti.

Guess you already knew that blower style fans are far more prone break then as well, not to mention louder/hotter/weaker and harder to clean.
At least EVGA has a good RMA policy I guess.

I've never had issues with them, cleaning is easy with the appropriate compressed air supply.
