What makes this one so much better? I’ll see if I can get extra money if the 300$ difference over something like the dell is worth it. I don’t play any graphic intensive games, so do I even need it?

It has: 16GB RAM, 1060 vid card, 256GB SSD

I’ve been looking at the Lenovo y520. It’s got a 2tb hdd, no ssd, 8gb ram, 1050ti and i7 for around 800 bucks. I’d prefer an ssd, but for the price I can’t complain!

Good luck. I've been hearing that Lenovo is starting to lose it's shine so to speak.

/e On top of everything else, that laptop is refurbished.

Yeah but is it a warranty where you can a refund. Otherwise it's gonna spend most of the time in the shop.
You MIGHT luck out, I wouldn't bet on it though.

Yeah it says return for $. I’ve never bought anything used before, but it has such better specs than anything else for the money. Hopefully it was just a 2 week return or something

Looks like a pretty good option. Lenovo makes good products. Gaming focused lines are kinda new to them.
Still much safer choice than some garbage HP or Acer or random Chinese offbrand.
Run some tests to check the temps. If the cooling system works well enough and like the physical layout you should be golden.

no laptop is going to handle a proper synthetic test without getting hot as shit.
you go desktop if you want consistently low temps and no throttling.
