I had pretty good success without the GFX card until I installed put in the GFX card and installed the drivers again. Just to be sure, I’ll take out the card and reinstall Windows, etc., again. Then I’ll do the GFX card and drivers again. I’ve been doing the manual searches for the right GFX driver already.

Maybe I’ll try installing an earlier driver instead of the latest

If I go through everything and don’t have any issues until putting in the GFX Card, I think we have the culprit. Unfortunately, GFX cards are expensive :/

Well the grfx card was used for 6 months to mine. Maybe it's shot?

FYI...

IF it turns out to be the vid card.. I would probably get this (minimum). It's pretty much equivalent to the GTX 980.

I think we have a winner. No problems since I took out the GFX again (its kinda stuck in half the PCI-E slot now... sigh)

I have to go in for work. Leaving the computer on to download WoW. When I get home I’ll figure out how to fully pop this bastard from the slot, download the newest processor GFX, and give WoW a go.

Screw (or sometimes a lock down lever) on back of vid card, cables on back of vid card. Little tiny clip on the front of the PCI-E slot that the vid card sits in. Those are all that' could possibly hold the vid card in.

/e Also, I would get the vid card completely out of the computer. Just unhooking the power cables, doesn't do it. Vid cards still get 75W from the PCI-E slot.

/ee Yeah it looks like screw(s) on the rear of the vid card...

It’s the clip that the useless L part of the GFX-side connection clicks into. Completely stuck. GFX card is angled now - no other part of it is even in the PCI-E connection. Not really sure what I have to do other than snap it off :/ spent 20 minutes wiggling it one way, wiggling it the other, pushing, pulling. The lever has a mark on it from the screwdriver force.

Yeah it isn’t screwed in anymore. Literally the only thing keeping it anywhere my computer is the over-engineered latch of death. I had this issue with the last computer I had in 2014, and I had to break it.

The clip has to be opened with your finger...like the clip on a RAM slot.

Try sliding it, towards the front of the case? Most of the time you either push down or lift, or push down and move towards the top of the case.

/e On the older ASUS boards, it was push down and away, towards the top of the comp.

When the card is in, the latch goes upward. The latch is stuck up. I can’t get it to go down at all

I’ll have to return to this issue in 9 hours. Ahh, the joys of work.

Try down and then gently move towards the TOP of the case. Do NOT break it.

/e Like down, then away from the vid card. Sort of towards the CPU. It may be harder to release with the vid card... angled up. Lower the vid card most of the way....they are really easy to release, normally.

/ee It LOOKS just like the one on my older ASUS motherboard. I'm pretty sure it works the same way.

Lower the vid card back down into the slot. Use your left hand to grip the vid card, and your right hand to release the clip...THEN lift the vid card out of the slot.

Just parked at work.

The GFX card was hanging down at about a 30 degree angle. Right before I left, I tried pushing it in / sliding it toward the front / lifting. Now it’s upward at a comical 45 degrees, banging into the CPU cooler. When I get home I’ll have to try to push the clip in on the bottom. I was only really getting force on the top half of the clip before.

Unfortunately, I don’t really have the money for a new GFX card. We’re doing the Dave Ramsey stuff. I had to save for 5 months, work a 2nd job, and use X-Mas cash toward this thing. IDK - frustrating as shit. I’ve never had a component just up and die on me in the 4 builds I’ve done.

Well, it was a "used" component.

Just remember... LOWER the vid card back down, THEN release the clip. The clip is made to easily release, when the vid card is IN the slot. NOT when it's angled up in the air. :)
