what did you clean in the sink? the heatsink? the entire computer? did you remove the fan from the heatsink first at least? Are you cleaning the part that makes contact with the cpu with rubbing alcohol before putting it back on? You'll want thermal paste before putting it back on, you can get it for a few bucks anywhere that has computer parts.

Also will probably want to clean the heat spreader (the metal exposed part that the heatsink goes on top of) with a bit of rubbing alcohol too.

I just sprayed everything

I'm not entirely sure what that means, if you seriously just sprayed the entire inside of your computer case with water, you're going to have to wait at least days before plugging it back in.

Nah, water and consumer electronics are good friends, I've seen people clean motherboards with soap and water before and it still worked.. though it wasn't hooked up to a power supply when they did it. It's just the shortage that can occur when the circuits have electricity going through them while wet that can actually destroy the motherboard.

I'm going to just say on record that cleaning your motherboard with soap and water is NOT advisable though, for various reasons.
