Yes my malware bytes detected the setup file (exe) as malicious. But that doesn't mean it detected the stealth shit right?

it probably isn't that simple or they wouldn't be telling people to reformat their hard drive.

That was about the secondary and tertiary payload that was pushed through the original backdoor (which was the part Malwarebytes etc. were capable of removing), targeting bigger corporations.

Nothing stops the hackers from pushing other payloads to the regular folks after they've hit their big targets, though. If there was no big hassle in reinstalling Windows, I wouldn't skip it - then again, I'm a self-claimed autist.
