Get two identical 3 drawer file cabinets. Then get two 2' x 12" redwood boards (any length) up to about 8 ft. long...edge glue them together to make a 2" x 24" plank.

Then just put the plank on top of the 3 drawer file cabinets.


If I had some tools I'd love to make my own.

/e I have no idea if they will deliver to the west coast, BUT, there are many office furniture liquidators all over the country.

Two companies that I KNOW make indestructible office furniture are HON and Steelcase. As for NEW, for these two companies, you'd have to win the lottery to be able to afford their stuff. But it is definitely worth the money, if you can find used.

Maybe find a HON desk that you like, then try to find it used, somewhere.
