Default-ing your BIOS would be good...Just make sure you set the Q-Fan control to 'disabled" afterwards.

Yeah, it looks like Windows 1o has done much better, with the Windows 10 services.

99 times out of 100, the motherboard temp indicates the Ambient temp inside the case. If it's sensor is inaccurate, you can use the SSD temp instead.
The CPU can not run cooler than the Ambient temp in the case.

And yeah, that Hyper 212 EVO will cool the CPU and the surrounding motherboard...better.

Keep in mind that Intel CPUs have a higher temp threshold that an AMD CPU would. 70-75C under 100% load is a tad high but still safe.

/e When you have time, or when the new CPU cooler arrives...take your time with the thermal compound. Even folks who've done it 100 times, can still get careless, and have a less than stellar application.

thx for all the info above.

Thats still no reason for the motherboard to jump from 45-72 right?

OK So I reset everything and disables qfan.

Im getting a LOW 32c and 35c cpu/motherboard

Not generally...no. And 72C on the motherboard...isn't all that good. Might just be a bad sensor. Or maybe the Thermal compound on the motherboard was done badly at the factory. :)
But it may just be an inaccurately located sensor, or a bad sensor. As long as Turbo is ON in the BIOS, the CPU and motherboard temp can fluctuate.

Keep an eye on the SSD temp as well. The motherboard and the SSD should be about the same temp.

/e Btw, if the case fans are plugged into the motherboard headers, those header fan speed settings need to also be checked in the BIOS.

case fans are plugged directly into PSU and do not show up in bios.

Well, maybe it was just some arbitrary BIOS setting that was out of whack.

Many times I've gotten motherboards, that....I dunno, maybe QA was messing with...and a couple BIOS settings were out of whack.

/e I always default the BIOS on a new motherboard. Just outta habit.

Ghot, Thank you so very very much.

I have a question though......should I be leaving my cpu fan on max? Or when I get the new cooler, what setting would be best?

thank you.

I would leave the Stock cooler on max. In my builds I always leave the CPU cooler stock or 3rd party on max. But many ppl like to set a CPU fan curve in the BIOS.

/e You will get much better temps (CPU and mobo) with the HYPER 212...so it's up to you...noise vs. cooling.

/ee I have a huge A/C unit near my comp. I have an AMD build, and a Hyper 212 EVO push/pull running at 100%.

Here is my Speccy screenshot...don't go by the CPU core temp (which is what Speccy shows) as AMD has weird ideas about core temp...just compare this S/S to the one above...from AIDA64 Extreme.

/e As you can see, especially on the AIDA temps above...the motherboard and the drive temps, are pretty much the ambient case temp, assuming good sensors.

idle tamps dont mean much its just a good starting point, load temps mean way more
