Dual radios mean two physical radios. On the software side they are bridged together. Radios by design can only transmit or receive at any given moment, not both at once. Having two radios allows for full duplex communications where the device and transmit and receive at once. The reason why using one radio cuts throughput in half is because the single radio can only receive, then needs to switch to transmit, then back to receive, then back to transmit. Where having two radios, the device doesn't need to switch back and forth as often allowing for more throughput.
Dual band is not necessarily the same as dual radio. Dual band just means it can transmit and receive on two frequencies. Not that it can transmit and receive at the same time.
I don't know which one is better or will work better.
When I mean run cat cable I mean from where ever your router is attach a cable and drag it throughout your house to another point, then connect a WAP to the other end.
A WAP is a wireless access point. Just think of it as your router with only 1 port meant for communications rather than 4 or 5. These are normally used for distributing wireless signals throughout large buildings.
ok thanks. yea ive heard of Access Points. and turning a router into an Access Point, im assuming thats the same thing as a WAP?
ive seen some routers for like 25 bucks and they say they can be used as an access point.
so for example this?
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-3-In-1-Wireless-Router-RT-N12/dp/B00DWFPDNObut if ur saying to use a WAP in the middle of the house. then shouldnt i just setup the router in the center? so i dont need another device for a WAP?
either way id have to run a long cat cable from modem to router. i believe the router and WAP are pretty much the same thing as far as this goes? using a device to send wireless signal throughout the building.
just a bit confused as to why i would setup a router a few feet from the modem. and then also setup another device for a WAP further away from router and connect it with a long cat cable?
instead i think the same thing can be achieved by setting up the modem in one room, and just using a long cat cable for the router, but moving the router to the center of the house? makes it so i use one less device?
