A Wrinkle in Time is an excellent book...it's more for young children, but still and excellent book on tesseracts.

...and of those books listed....

These, IMO are the good authors...

ArthurC. Clark
Issac Asimov
Philip K. Dick
Dan Simmons
Frank Herbert, but only the 1st Dune book.
Robert Heinlein
Joe Haldeman
Gene Wolfe
Frederick Pohl
Vernor Vinge

and not on the list...

Jerry Pournelle
Stephen Baxter
Larry Niven
Jack McDevitt
Alistair Reynolds
Ray Bradbury
Poul Anderson
Samuel R. Delaney
Clifford D. Simak
Theodore Sturgeon
Kim Stanley Robinson

As for buying their books...Amazon.com ...used books ...mass market paper back editions.

The easiest way to find their good books is to Google like: Larry Niven - booklist ....then hit up Amazon.com

I've read the 1984, but I haven't read the enders game.

I'm going to see how expensive the local book stores are around here but I might take you up on this depending on shipping costs.

Media Mail is stupid cheap. I've mailed textbooks from coast to coast of the US for less than $5.

The books are like one cent the shipping is like $3.99 but that's still better than $8.99 in the store. check these out...

Larry Niven, some with Jerry Pournelle

Ringworld

Ringworld (1970)— Nebula Award, 1970[4] Hugo and Locus SF Awards winner, 1971
The Ringworld Engineers (1979)—Hugo and Locus SF Awards nominee, 1981
The Ringworld Throne (1996)
Ringworld's Children (2004)

Moties

The Mote in God's Eye (1974)—Hugo, Nebula and Locus SF Awards nominee, 1975[21]
The Gripping Hand (1993, UK: The Moat Around Murcheson's Eye)

The State

A World Out of Time (1976)—Locus SF Award nominee, 1977[23]
The Integral Trees (1984)—Nebula Award nominee, 1984;[24] Locus SF Award winner, and Hugo nominee, 1985[25]
The Smoke Ring (1987)

Safe bet on any sci-fi book....read the reviews inside the cover (paperbacks) If LOCUS says it's good....it's good. After Locus, I would say Hugo Awards.

I liked the Ender storyline, but I couldn't get into the other story arc about Bean and all that stuff.
