It's PC only.

It has to run a program to grab screenshots to apply the correct colors to the LED's.

You can use it with a Raspberry Pi as a stand alone unit, But that requires Adapters, Raspberry Pi, HDMI To RCA, Splitters, ETC. And still only works with external devices like DVD / Roku box, etc. There's no way to do this with built in smart tv apps like hulu/netflix atm. But you can Hulu/Netflix on your pc -> Tv & have the ambient lighting.

oh ok makes sense. so ill need like a 25 ft extension cable to run to my TV. how easy is this to hook up? just plug everything into each other and setup the free software?

or do i need to solder stuff?

Little bit of soldering, Then a little bit of messing with a program to get the settings correct.

holy shit... lol much more intense than i had thought. but thanks for all of that info. Post back when you get yours setup!

it looks like a lot but maybe not too difficult to do? ill have to buy soldering equipment. prob can get away with just spending $15 for it? and then around $50 for the lighting stuff. plus another $30 for a 2nd set of LED strips cause 65inch tv. then maybe another $10 for the extension cord. so around $105 total.

Can i just connect two of those LED strips together? and what sort of extension cord would i need to make a longer run from my PC to my TV? prob a usb extension?

I mean its 16 feet of LED...

I'm putting it on a 49" TV. Probably have way too much for that even. Nice thing is the strip is cutable, and yes you can solder multiple strips together.

Case isn't needed. and if you wanted one, I'm sure you could get a cheap plastic one for $2

It's been a pain in the ass so far. On my second program, The first one wouldnt let me adjust the layout correctly.

Still got a few things to work out, But overall its working pretty well.

Yea, That was taken when i first hooked it up. The blue lights were 2x LED's that weren't registering & Defaulted to blue 24/7 @@

Had to manually adjust the location of all the led's in the software, etc. Was a good hour + just moving led's around.

Ended up using a total of 204 LED's out of the 300 i ordered.
