Some types do dry out over time, but even that's not bad, as long as you don't crack the seal.

I like Zalman ZM STG2, never dries, and is an "A" list TC.

It comes with a pretty good quality rubber cab that goes back on.

I meant some TC dries out over time, after it's applied ;)

For a vid card or mobo heatsinks, it doesn't really matter...for CPU's with air coolers, a non drying TC is a better choice. Moving a comp with a big air cooler attached, to another room, is enough to crack the seal on TC that dries out.

Here's and old list, but it's still accurate for the TC's that are listed.






/e I have an old XP machine that ran 24/7, overclocked with Zalman ZM STG2 for almost 8 years, actually is still runs. Never needed to change the TC.

Some folks like to change it yearly, or so, me, I only change it if/when the CPU temps go up.

Yeah I plan to change mine annually.
Plus I am transfering my comp to vegas for a month and need to switch my stuff to stock cooling and didnt have extra compound so I bought a large ass amount. lol

wish they would do that test over using a real heatsink, or a series of heatsinks
