It is for HT video, not for gaming video.. I doubt you have 4790K for htpc..

Sound is subjective, for some Sennheiser will sound better and to some AT. Can't really say what is better.

Amp*

Dac just converts it to analog, Amp increases volume.

To make it louder you need an amp, if you want new decoding with the amp then you will need amp/dac combo. Just like this: https://www.jdslabs.com/products/48/objective2-odac-combo-revb/ Pretty much best combo for price/performance there is available.

i'm not too sure i agree with this sentiment entirely
but i do agree that some sounds are better than others to my ear vs yours.
