Xeon x3440 and better are confirmed working with your chipset/motherboard revision, they only cost a few bucks and are a better alternative to the i5’s.

775 chipset i thought my mobo was 1156 chipset?

x3400 series is LGA 1156, whereas x3000 is LGA 775 (LGA 771 xeons can also be LGA 775 with sticker/socket mod)

Not sure how it could be any easier or cheaper, since both are ~$10 and require the same installation method, but whatever floats your boat.

damn how much are they lol i searched the x3400 and it was 99 bucks

Both are 20$

One has 8 threads other has 4 threads, Never really oc'd either so not sure which is actually better.
but generally the xeons don't oc that well. Might be different with these idk.

They overclock well, 4+ghz should be easily attainable even on the lower x3440.



Gotta search x3440, x3450, x3460 etc
