You are not getting better single core performance going from an OC'd 4790k to AMD.
Your best bet would be the upcoming i9 9900k with high TDP Cooler.

Ive got a suspicion due to the constant overclock, that you may be frying part of the cpu and thus the reason its not performing. Even with adequate cooling, pushing the voltage and cpu in heavy intensive tasks all the time eventually starts frying all those billions of clock cycles.

So you just want something new to want something new?

My 4930k is doing great. Now better than a gtx970 would be awesome.

no, the cpu is cooled just fine, delidded, undervolted to 1.17v at 4.5ghz.



ipc clock for clock seems about even with amd behind by a small margin but 2x the cores/threads
if my ipc goes down a little i ain't gonna die.
