Macbook and Surface are both massively over priced for what you get.

For Python you could be using an old dualcore, a chromebook or whatever.
Biggest factors are keyboard layout & to a lesser extent as previously mentioned the screen. Unless your are doing all your work at Starbuck's you should really have a desktop at home and office. If not get an external monitor & keyboard at which point you can just plug in and code on almost anything anything including your smartphone.

for programming you need screen height

microsoft surface 3:2 aspect ratio is awesome for programming
macbook 16:10 aspect ratio is very good as well
huawei matebook x pro is also a good alternative if you don't want a surface or macbook

16:9 is good for consumer laptops to watch movies/videos on youtube but literal cancer for doing work since you have to scroll so much when working with code
stay away from gaming laptops which all have 16:9 aspect ratios and gaudy colors that look like something a 12 year old would be using

For programming and work:
3:2 (surface) > 16:10 (macbooks) > 16:9 (almost all current consumer and gaming laptops) > 4:3 (old monitors 20 years ago)

Per the chart below, if you're coding you don't need the extra width of 16:9... you need the extra height of 16:10 and 3:2 otherwise you have to scroll more and lose productivity

16:9 is good for media consumption, photo/video editing, etc since you can have your menu bars on the side
For regular monitors 16:9 is fine since you have a large screen (27"+) but on laptops it's literal cancer

you can turn any 16:9/16:10 screen sideways to make it tall :bonk:

Got my Huawei Matebook X Pro yesterday.
OH boi it even exceeds my high expectations.
I can write a small review on it in a week or so.

Only thing I don't like is the silver color. Sadly it's the only one available in Denmark.
Gonna vinyl wrap it anyway.

Performs better or similarly to the 65W 7700HQ in the Dell XPS 15 9560 I used before.
Also like 10-15% better than a normal 8550u, not sure why.
