New motherboard means New os install plain And simple

You can get away with it but sounds like you aren't

not necessarily

i went from an AM3 platform to lga 1150 on the exact same windows installation, all i did was uninstall a lot of drivers first then shut down and when i turned it back on with the new mobo/cpu windows 7 just went ballistic auto installing drivers at the desktop and I was done. No issues and performance was not hindered (98th percentile userbenchmark score for the same hardware)

and if u went with a fresh installation u'd have a lot less of a headache

yupitsmeh is correct here

backup certain files u went and save to separate usb, then xfer them over to fresh OS. it's not that hard.

I have personally done both many times
Windows tweaks are usually done just as fast considering ssd install now days
I have been forced to do it device manager way many times considering software would be totally lost
And safe mode is great it
There use to be 3rd party software out there that helped make it few clicks like ddu

and then installing everything else you want on your ssd again?
i think it just can't take less time and effort to merely uninstall all the mobo related drivers beforehand
