im inclined to say its just piriform being garbage because the mobo temps are very low. used to say my old AMD chip was running at 300c when idle.

Has he ever hit TJ max or throttled at all?

Tell him to see what Coretemp says

im gonna be honest here and say i have no idea what these mean.

he built this maybe 2 weeks ago and was trying to play games and they were all crashing, low frame rates etc. i told him to get speccy and see what it says and found that lol
hopefully didnt ruin his whole pc by trying to play games and shit because it prolly hit even higher temps than that (thats idle temp)

I've been building and troubleshooting pcs since 2006 and I'm not seeing any conceivable reason why he had to install 32 bit windows or what could be causing these temps. Maybe his heatsink is hanging off the socket.

He needs in-person help I think. The build is probably a dumpster fire. In my head I'm imagining cables probably blocking fans, screws littering the bottom of the case, every pci cover on the case taken off, power supply upside-down, bing homepage, pando media booster, tons of random control panels and junkware popping up every time he starts up...

Seems like an improper cpu cooler installation.
