Try it. remember to stress test it for a bit afterwards. So you won't get a crash later on when you are doing important stuff.
What fine machine do you have with an 7700HQ?

Naah xtu is fine, you are just testing regular day usage. p95 makes an unrealistic stress test.
Nice I'm buying myself a Dell as well tomorrow.
Currently a sale on Dell XPS 15" 7700HQ, 1050, 512 PCI-E SSD, 16GB RAM. From 1600$ to 1350$, plus I might be able to get the student discount for another 10%.
So pretty much been 800$ for me total because of the story in #12

And yes at least an sata ssd is a must in system nowadays.

Bro that claim!
the screen uses like 15-20w at full brightness. While the 7700HQ takes 45w at load and the dedicated GPU even more.

screen only pulls maybe 10 watts tops
less if you use light themes

well those are not realistic loads, my desktop cpu is pulling 9 watts right now at 12% load.. monitor power pull is pretty consistent.

unless you're running 3dmark and p95 at the same time you aren't going to pull the full tdps of the gpu/cpu,
in no game/program I can think of will that happen.. Even in rendering you've got i/o wait times that bring the load/temps down even if it's only for milliseconds at a time..

I leave my monitor at 120% brightness, I like to give myself a tan while browsing the web.
