Discord is malware.

if i didn't know better when it comes to how awful chrome handles hardware acceleration I'd have thought it was using my GPU to crunch hashes for botnet purposes

Your discord is taking up nothing because you have no friends. no channels, and no servers you are in besides the 1 you created to sit in there by yourself.

I know rite?
Anyways mind checking yours for me... I checked mine/wife/sons but sons definitely has the largest servers.

Well I got up off my ass and checked my sons pc, he has 12 servers he's connected to and a few have 500+ users with 10+ bots.
Personally I don't connect to more then 3 and your right theres not a lot of people maybe 100 max with 1-3 bots.
Still can't get discord to use more then 3% of cpu and more then 35mb of ram and his pc is slower then mine.

30 servers, a handful of them have a lot of users (one sports over 6000) but most are very small 10-100 users max.
Some are almost entirely images (dont ask) so idk if that matters

If it did then my sons servers should of had an impact on his pc though it didn't.
But hell I'm only using logic here and thats never makes any sense.

I guess the lesson here is not all computers behave the same. I'm bouncing between 881mb - 885mb on discord at this very moment. That's my reality, logical or not.
I already tried reinstalling it, that's the limit of fucks i give to fixing it

that is an interesting world you live in

http://i.imgur.com/CLBH9Xa.png

after maybe 12 hrs of uptime total almost all idle time just a few hours spent in vc with some friends and tabbing between a few channels to look at various images and click some links.
cpu usage varies usually below 1% often spikes to 5%-15% though

I only get that 0.2% idle when it is in the background

One time it even decided, not while I was doing anything in particular, that it needed around 2 tflops worth of number crunching. chrome fail.

the framework they chose to use is just so bad. You also have to do so much to the discord css in order for it to even be usable, like hiding the blocked message bar which if you leave it vanilla just makes blocked people more obnoxious and noticeable than people you actually want to see.

TBH I wish everyone would just go back to Skype. It's so lightweight and responsive after you remove the ads. Uses very little memory too at that point. Aside from the occasional friend getting hacked by no fault of their own (happened to one who was a network security specialist, it's on Skype's end 100%) and messaging you with some weird sketchy url's, it was fine.

That's the working set, Whats your actual memory usage?

If you're asking for the number task manager would show it's using 311mb of 'ram', but that doesn't count virtual byte usage. Still quite high even by that metric.

This is all irrelevant, op's issue is the 10 degree jump he encounters when using it.

Your total vb and pb should not exceed 300mb and tbh thats not a lot by todays standards.
But we both know pb is all that matters not the vb cause how windows 32bit allocates memory.

The cpu hit of discord is NOT more then team speak. The ram usage can get higher yes but
its due to it being a much heavy in regards to the gui and shit. But lets be honest TS3 looks
like fucking crap and has always looked like shit.

Discord will gain more popularity with time and replace TS3 altogether if they don't step up
their shit and fast. I mean free vs paid and it offers nothing more while discord is constantly
pumping out updates and new features all the while listening to the community.

i was referring to pb when i said 311mb but yeah
fair points i just dont like discord or the team and how hard they try to seem hip and cool it's just cringey, I only allowed it to update recently for the last 6 months or so i've had to put up with harambe memes whenever it was loading, those being gone is the only good part of allowing it to finally update.
