If you're upgrading mobo too no reason to consider a locked intel over ryzen. You'd be getting way less for the money.

And you want to upgrade to a ddr4 setup, right? Then avoid locked intel. The only reason to pick intel right now is the overclocking and what that means for single thread perf. Overall it's still less for your money but at least in that one category you'd be ahead of ryzen.

Going locked is paying the same price to have less in every way.
