I would bet it's the USB or the Windows image on the USB.

/e There is an easy way to check...stick the USB stick in another computer...just make sure you don't: "Click any key to continue" :)

Once you "Click any key to continue" ...it starts the install.

Here...

Go here: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170-A/HelpDesk_Manual/

Download this .pdf and give to your brother: Win7 Installation guide(English)

Method 3 looks the easiest to me.

/ee This is assuming you bought the ASUS Z170-A motherboard.

You can start the installation just don't keep going though the prompts

Apparently the install media needs to be built on another computer.

I figure it's safer to say: don't start the install...in case the other computer has an OS other than Win 7 ...on it. ^^

/e It also seems that it WAS the USB 3.0 driver (lacking) that WAS the problem.

/ee @ OP. Windows 7 didn't have USB 3.x drivers included in the install media.

/eee @ OP... If you don't want to deal with all the BS req'd to install Win 7 on your new comp...Windows 10 Pro should work with no problem.

Delete everything on the USB, reformat even.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/windows-usb-dvd-download-tool
Go there, follow instructions very carefully and you should be able to do this no problem.

lol

check ports in bios

use 2.0

you may be experiencing overloaded ports in witch case ull need drivers preloaded
since this is a new build drivers should be preloaded or u should have a cd with drivers that u can load before u even run any system

did u load the boot on the flashdrive urself ?? or its a random download?
it will not boot if u didnt create it in Microsoft's manager

hey,

I just built my pc. Very happy with how it turned out. Heres the problem. I'm trying to install windows from a USB drive, and im getting the following error:

The boot device failed because a required device is inaccessable.

Bad copy of windows on the USB? Is there some issue with win7 that I have to use win 10? Any help appreicated

Even the error message says it's not reading the stick.
