Hey, just a small update.

So apparently when I had my PC put together, I asked people on these forums for help and they gave me a parts list with what I have now, except it included this power supply: http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gaming-gxii-series/gxii-550w/ which I bought and intended to use. Apparently, my dad had someone he knew put it together, and that guy told him to use the 750w power supply that is currently dying instead (my dads convinced the guy knew what he was talking about, but I honestly wasn't even aware this happened) however the 550w cooldermaster power supply is still in the house, I'm looking at it right now after digging it out of a pile of boxes =P

So anyway, first of all that would explain why you recommend a lower wattage than what I had to begin with, but second of all, do you think the original PSU, aka http://www.coolermaster.com/powersupply/gaming-gxii-series/gxii-550w/ is a good choice to put in (which would save me $100 which means I could potentially get a stick of RAM or look at the motherboard upgrade in the near future) or should I still just buy the one you listed from EVGA, aka https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0106RDIN2/?tag=pcpapi-20 ?

Probably better than the Zumax, but not much.

I would just get the 550W I recommended. ^^

/e Don't mess with a cheap power supply...it's the foundation of your computer. If it goes (dies) it could take other components with it.

Can I ask whats worse about it? I don't mean to come off as cheap, but the thing is, I honestly do not have money to spend very often, almost every dime is already in the computer. If I bought that PSU, which I will do if it needs to be done, the only problem is I probably won't upgrade anything else for years sadly, so when I see this one in a new box, it's just tempting to use it instead, is it really a bad idea?

Just start by reading these reviews...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171090

All the Cooler Master 550W power supplies have insides made by Enhance Electronics....NOT a good thing.

/e I mean you can try it...ANYthing is gonna be better than that Zumax. ^^

/ee An EVGA G2 550W is gonna give you 550W...period.

A Cooler Master 550W may give you 550W. Hell, JonnyGURU didn't even review that power supply you have. I can't even find ANY independent reviews on that exact make/model.

For all I can be 100% sure of...you may be fine with the zumax or the cooler master. But I won't recommend either one.

yeah, I know you shouldn't cheap out on power supply too, it not only can directly kill your other components if it dies, but it also directly dictates electrical bill.

I hope I can sell this CM 550w somehow, that would make life so much easier, but for now I'll just go to $0 and get the good PSU, and pray nothing else needs replacements in future I guess... lol

You're literally talking about around tens of dollars per month. And that's if you are loading your PSU to 100% capacity which if you are then you bought the wrong power supply to begin with for your build.

Anyone who brings up electricity bills don't really understand how much their new desktop is really costing them. Realistically it's around 10$ per month. Don't go to MC Donalds for a day and you payed for it.

So I got the PSU and hooked it up today (my first time doing that on my own) and while everything initially looked to be working perfectly, I ran into some stutter "freezing" in World of Warcraft once I loaded the game up. What happens is when I mouseover my ping/fps/addon memory menu button, the game very very consistently minifreezes for about 0.3 seconds spaced out by almost exactly 1 second of normal gameplay. It's basically perfectly timed, and 100% reliable in terms of it will -always- freeze every 1 second, for 0.3 seconds, constantly, forever, and always spaced out the exact same amount of time etc. It's also worth noting that this -only- seems to happen when I mouseover the menu button to see realtime updates on my FPS/Latency/Memory usage etc, and I get more or less, no lag otherwise (I say more or less because I do -feel- like it takes longer to load random things and I even get temporary 0.1 sec screen freezes occasionally when I open something in game like a character sheet for example, but it's not a huge difference and that may or may not have happened before anyway, so I can't be entirely sure that it's a new problem.)

Now I have no clue if this has to do with the way I connected my power supply to my board at all, maybe I did something wrong etc to cause it, or if it's just a World of Warcraft thing that is a completely seperate problem, but yeah. Does this sound like something that could be the result of my novice attempt at replacing a PSU, or should I look for other explanations on what could be causing this?

Extra side question of, how can I be sure I did everything correctly? Is there a good way to check all the bases etc? I mean everything -looks- to be working perfectly fine, aside from the above issues, but I really wouldn't be surprised if I missed something.

Here's an SS of my Speccy run after setting up the PSU:

If this only happens in WoW and only when you d that one action then don't do that action.

Or use the repair game function and/or reinstall the game to see if that fixes it.

Changing a PSU wont effect a very specific part of a very specific game. So it is something else.
