When disabling Fans, which are now running at 2,100 rpm avg the CPU temp is 37 and motherboard is 41c.

But i did notice ever 15 secs they spike up +13c avg. and drop down 3 secs after.

1 min stress test bring cpu and board to 100c

It does run noticavly cooler with cpu fans at double speed all the time.....I have 12 programs open right now, 3 games, music and its running smooth at 49c max

It looks like you're just in a warm room. Look at your motherboard temp.
The motherboard temp is usually your lowest temp. Look at that example Speccy screenshot in post #5, above.

The reason the CPU temp goes up and down, is that Turbo is ON, in the BIOS, which is normal.

But the CPU temp will is usually higher than the motherboard or SSD temp.

What case do you have and what kind and how many fans are in it?

But my other comp was at 28-30c, same room.

S340 case. 2x fans ....the temp is the same whether the case is open or closed. feels cool inside.

I did order the cooler I posted, coming tomorrow.

Also, HWMonitor shows you CPU fan is still revving up and slowing down.

Make sure your BIOS is set to display, in Advanced Mode...and you need to set the Q-Fan control to "disabled" in the BIOS. It's on the Monitor tab.

Also, make sure your CPU fan is plugged into the Cpu_Fan header on the motherboard...while your at it...make sure the RAM is in the slots shown. (RAM slots shouldn't affect temps, but might as well make sure.)

Yes, the fan control is disabled. thats why im at 2,200 rpm. ( ihad changed the settings after the screen shot :)
Fan is plugged into header

My Ram is in the opposite slots of the 2x red dots.........no issues with ram.

I can switch them out but they are working fine.

I justl oaded a game and motherboard went to 70c

Well, as per your manual, they are supposed to be in the slots I've marked (assuming you have 2 sticks of RAM). That shouldn't affect the temps, but it is the way they will run the best.

Also make SURE it's the Q-Fan control that you disabled, and not just the CPU-Fan setting. The Q-Fan control is the over-riding control for the fan(s). Every ASUS board for years, has had that setting.

The only other thing you can really do, is take some of the Windows load...off the CPU, like so.....

By default, Windows comes with about 100 Services running, when you actually only need about 30-40. Setting up your Services properly will make things easier on the CPU, and therefore, it's temps.

[Setting up your Services]

http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-10-service-configurations/ ...Windows 10

You can open the Services window, on YOUR computer, by typing: services.msc ...in the START > Search box.
Set up your windows services as shown in the SAFE column, at Black Viper's Website.

As for the temps of the "other" computer. without it still being in the same room, it's kinda hard to compare, things like BIOS settings, Windows settings, temps....etc.

I dont want to have to disable services, there is some kind of problem. Plus my cpu is running at like 1%.

Could a improperly cooled cpu make the motherboard hotter than the cpu?

I wish I knew what the problem is.

im about to change the ram and default my bios, maybe I clicked something by accident.

Default-ing your BIOS would be good...Just make sure you set the Q-Fan control to 'disabled" afterwards.

Yeah, it looks like Windows 1o has done much better, with the Windows 10 services.

99 times out of 100, the motherboard temp indicates the Ambient temp inside the case. If it's sensor is inaccurate, you can use the SSD temp instead.
The CPU can not run cooler than the Ambient temp in the case.

And yeah, that Hyper 212 EVO will cool the CPU and the surrounding motherboard...better.

Keep in mind that Intel CPUs have a higher temp threshold that an AMD CPU would. 70-75C under 100% load is a tad high but still safe.

/e When you have time, or when the new CPU cooler arrives...take your time with the thermal compound. Even folks who've done it 100 times, can still get careless, and have a less than stellar application.

/ee Also might want to run a CPU benchmark like Cinebench (free) and see how high the CPU temp will get.
