Understood, can anyone suggest a nice clean looking junction box that can house either patch panels or a networking switch and coax 8 port coax amplifier?

In the industry...after you go UP from the normal switches and routers...you hit: 24 port rack mount, patch panels.

As I said I used to do this for a living. We did this for offices, homes, hospitals etc.

hmm but my question now is what would be suggested for having a junction box to house all that cool stuff?

/edit

Links very much appreciated

That Amazon link I sent you via PM...had the coax and the CAT patch panels, and the wall mount box that held them.

If you are in Washington...STASTE...then there should be tons of companies that do this. When I was working (CA) they were doing this back in the mid 80's for gawd's sake.

The companies UI worked for did CA obviously, but also did Oregon, Washington etc.

/e

coax patch panel: https://www.amazon.com/Rackmount-Patch-Panel-Tuff-Jacks/dp/B00GJ0TB3M ...not sure this is the cable type you want, but you'll get the idea.

Ethernet patch panel: https://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Unshielded-Wallmount-Rackmount-TC-P24C5E/dp/B00008AWL3/ref=pd_sim_23_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=VEWFZSMJ7G6A73HT994C

Look at the pics and stats for all the : Customers who bought this, also bought. To Get a general idea.

I have had a hell of a time getting things on time when ordered through a specialized company. 2 months of delays so far because of that haha.
Did you send me a link to an in wall enclosure to house all of those things?

see my edit just above.

Realize that 24 port is on the small side of what is being used for businesses, which is where most of the market is.

/e Relax. :)

Remember this. The only part of this system you are having installed, that's hard to change/upgrade, AFTER the fact is the actual cable runs themselves.

W/e you end up deciding on for the "distribution device" in your closet, can be easily changed in the future, if it is not serving your needs.

The wiring in the walls, probably won't need to be changed/upgraded for 20-50 years, or longer.
The ONLY thing that they may come up with a better mousetrap for...is the actual "distribution device" itself.

You are wisely having that installed in an accessible place, a closet. So if they do come out with something better, it's easy to access. :)

/ee This is the MAIN reason that it's done the way it is...the jacks in the rooms and the distribution device are easy to access and change/upgrade. The wire runs in the walls are the part you want to think "future proof" when considering. Cause they are a bitch to change.

/eee As ART mentioned...PM Surfpunk, he is probably the most current with the technology of any one on CHD.

Grats would be another, but he seems to have gone walk-about. There is another Grats, now, but I don't think it's the same one.

As long as the in-wall wiring gets done properly, they rest will be fine. Really. :)

Very true, right now i'm googling and looking for a solution i like for an in-wall housing for all these cable runs/where to hide the solution i come up with

/edit

I really like something like this, obviously I am indeed in washington state though and not AUS haha

yeah...things are indeed getting easier. They probably even have ones with MORE ports. I mean there are rich ppl in Beverly Hills that have to distribute TV and data to 60 rooms. :)

Thanks everyone for the advice and help, decided to go with rack mount with coax patch panel, Ethernet patch panel, surge protector/small backup power that's rack mountable, and an Ethernet switch.

Possibly cat 5e but that depends on if he has it in stock and whether he can guarantee an install on cat 6a that we have ordered in.

Is this solution....Surfpunk approved? :)

/e Google: 16 port rackmount Ethernet switch. If you get an Ethernet switch, you might not need the Ethernet patch panel.

I don't necessarily need it but there's really no seeable loss and it will make it look a lot cleaner this way.
