my problem is the monitor arm/stands are work are horrible. the only way i could use them forced the monitors to be right next to the edge of the table, and my face was too close to the monitor. i ended up buying this to put my mouse/keyboard so i could sit farther back:

maybe it'll work for you too?

That is actually not a bad idea. Just make sure it is bolt on bolt on bolt or else (depending on your weight) you may bend them or the bracket.

If you stack washers you would be better off. If you are going over a couple inches with bolts even steel over time if you sit down hard or at an angle etc may bend the bracket.

Home Depot sells steel bolts. Even a fat guy won't bend steel bolts.

I would be more worried about the chair itself than the bolt.

Well yeah.

/e I guess it depends on the base material, in the chair.

Spacers won't allow it unless you leave too much play From bolt width to id of spacers
