A couple of updates:

Chkdsk came back with no errors;

I just tried playing consecutively today:

1. Euro Truck 2 - same issue as before, no change;

2. Rise of the Tomb Raider (a graphics-demanding game from Jan 2016) - not a single hick-up, while playing it on maximum graphics settings...

Would that exclude the GPU or HDD?

If it plays Tomb Raider with no issues, then the problem is probably with the game: Euro Truck 2

Also a possibility.
But he ran chkdsk before testing the game again though. If it had found any bad sectors it would have moved the data and marked the sector(s) for no-use.

/e The only assumption I made was earlier. I thought the problem was affecting ALL his games.

Just finished another 3-hour deep scan - the result is absolutely identical as before - only 1 bad sector, in the exact same place.

I just installed TR yesterday, so I did not have this feedback before. It is not affecting all games, but a pretty large portion of them, it seems. The chance of having problematic installations of ET2, Ark, and MC Story Mode at the same time is not very high.

I will try re-mapping the bad sector with some HDD healing software, after I try chkdsk /r once more.

If the above does not work - I will wipe my old Seagate Barracuda 7200 Sata II drive and test a full clean Windows + same games install on it, to see how it behaves with only the drive being different in the system (with the correct drivers).

In the mean time, I've also submitted a ticket to AMD, to see what their feedback is, and I will be submitting today a ticket to WD, for the Black 2 bad sector.

Any other benchmark, or other games to test suggestions?

My guess would be the hybrid drive.

I guess you could try reinstalling one of the games that has the freezing problem...see if that changes anything. <--- Just grabbing at straws here.

As you mentioned in post #24...

Yeah, changing out the HDD would help troubleshoot. If you still have your previous vid card, that would also help troubleshoot.

change the hard drive out do a fresh install.
You can scan it more but you'll just risk data loss if it dies.
