Well, I am not wealthy or anything by that means but I usually follow simple rule when buying things.

Do I want it? Yes. Do I need it? No. Don't buy it.

needs and wants are subject to interpretation

Well, well, well. Thank you, captain. Perhaps it is that I don't have such hesitations as maybe. I either need it or not.

The "best time to buy" is always...a week or two after you just bought something. It's the law of the universe or some shyt. :)

Microcenter has always got cpu + mobo bundle deals as someone stated. So when I went to buy my computer, I found one chill dude to help me pick all the items out I wanted as they work on commission. You usually have people in different departments who will walk up and try to slap their ID sticker on a part you just picked up to get the commission despite them not having helped you. He knew I would be getting everything to build from the ground up, so I made sure people in other departments weren't slapping their commission stickers on my parts and let the one guy get all, 100% commission on the $2,000 I was spending. He in turn, made sure I got every bundle deal, free games, best MIRB, etc. to save money. The guy even went as far as giving me his personal email to shoot him some questions if I had any when building my first comp. I ended up with a single 760 at the time, then realized I should have gotten a 780ti to run a single card. I emailed him saying I was going to return the 760 to get the 780ti, but he mentioned running two 760's in SLI would be about the same performance if not better in certain aspects and because of their current sale on the Asus 760s, I'd be saving quite a bit of money. I ended up getting another 760 to run the two in SLI and couldn't have been happier. He said he wouldn't be working because of finals that week when I was planning to come and pick up the other 760, a corsair h100i, and a few more blue LED fans. He set all the parts aside for me and slapped his stickers on there and I made sure he got the commission because he helped me out so much. I ended up saving several hundred dollars in MIRBs, bundle deals, and specials they had like buy this PSU and certain RAM, save $60 etc.

Super long post, but I've always been impressed with microcenter. Now, last cyber Monday when I built my friends computer, we had workers constantly walking up to our shopping cart looking for items that had no commission sticker on them already. We even had a guy put his sticker over another guys sticker because he said that employee was lazy and didn't deserve it, despite him helping us. We removed that fuckers stickers immediately. The guy who helped us with the monitors was an older gentleman and basically said "this is the monitor you want for what you'll be doing. Here's my card, let me put my sticker on your box." We were confused as to why this is what my friend wanted, so I asked a younger cat and he went into such great detail and said if we had any other questions he'd be more than happy to help. We ended up picking a different monitor, old guy came to put his sticker on it, told him he didn't deserve it and the commission on the sale went to the younger, super knowledgeable guy and made sure the old guy watch him slap his sticker on there and proceed to talk shit under his breath  Sometimes a little extra customer care as opposed to churn and burn can make the difference!

Maybe I will head into Micro center one of these days and see what kind of deals I can get. My e-mail is on their list so they send me shit all the time. A while ago I got a great deal on a mobo / CPU combo deal. The CPU was on sale + sale of the bundle. Was a crazy good deal.

When I was there a couple times they never did that to me. XD

Unless they did it without me noticing. I just grabbed what I needed and paid. But I did ask about a mobo and he did grab one for me, maybe he stuck one underneath without me noticing. lol

But the CPU was in a locked cage up by the register and the lady just grabbed it and handed it to me.
