That looks sweet and its on sale for 850$. The 15 inches kind of pisses me off though.

The $850 version doesn't have 1080p or a blu ray player, keep that in mind.

From my experience MSI have the best performance/price ratio - but they look awful, seem to be fairly low quality builds and get very hot (some use a 670 with very little in the way of cooling)

Asus g-series laptops have by far the best cooling solution. The air intake is NOT on the bottom, so you can play on your lap and other surfaces without frying it. Running at a lower temp makes your hardware last longer too which is nice.

They cost a bit exta though - abd IMO they're a very solid build quality with a good design.

You should be able to get one just in your price range, but not sure you'll be able to get a 660m one under 1k which would be ideal...

sager/clevo > asus

As far as heat dispersion goes? No. Not even close.

Clevo/sager have tiny air intakes on the bottom (increadibly poor airflow, even when on a solid surface) and small fans to keep the laptop slim and light. The newer asus g-series has a huge air intake/outlet at the back, so it can't be blocked and gets much better airflow.

Proof? Just look at the reviews on a site that covers running temp. The Asus g-series (again, the new ones) are the coolest running (and often quietest) laptops on the market. This comes at a cost of weight and size and price.

Clevo/sager have way better price/performance ratio, but my god do they run hot, especially when they're using a 670m or higher - they just can't disperse the heat generated by the high end cards. The Asus can, as can alienware but they're even more pricey and look terrible IMO.

Now most people don't care about the heat issues, nor the fact that an air intake at the back lets you play on your lap without frying your laptop. But I do, and a few others do.

But yeah if you just want price/performance ratio then sager, clevo and MSI are far and away better than any other brands. no one else offers a 670 for under 1300.
