Just going to post this here as future reference ;)

For anybody that's looking for $62 2.0 stereo setup or $161 2.1 setup.

Logitech isn't any where near good, they make a lot of crap, most of their products is like $10-200 so they make cheap speakers but even then you can find other PROPER speaker manufacturers that make cheaper speakers that sound better.

Are you okay going with a stereo 2.0 setup? Do you need a subwoofer for the extra bass?

Here is a GREAT setup that costs next to nothing. it uses REAL SPEAKERS with REAL speaker wire and even comes with a REAL amplifier.

The setup is:
Dayton DTA-1 Class T Amplifier + Dayton B652 Bookshelf speakers ($58)

Speaker wire; generic.

That setup will cost you as little as 62 dollars and will sound better than anything logitech, creative, altec,  or any other generic cheap crap brand can produce.

if $100 is your absolutely maximum, you could buy the speaker/amp combo and save up another $60 and get a 10" Dayton subwoofer to go with it:

Dayton Sub-1000 10" bass driver 100W active powered sub woofer

Total cost of this system = $161. ($62 without the $99 sub woofer added)Honestly, there isn't anything remotely close to this within its price range, so I would definitely recommend you save up the extra bucks to buy the entire system but if you really don't want to spend more then you will certainly be happy with just the speakers and amplifier, provided you don't listen to bass heavy music /// action movies.

Your welcome and good luck with your choice of speaker product ;)

How do you like your Denon AH-D5000s? Is there a lot of bass?

I'm going to upgrade my headphones soon and am starting to look around. I am staying away from Sennheiser this time around- already HD25-1 II's, HD 280's, HD 650's.
I use HD-25-1 II for when I'm playing/recording music. The only thing is the left cord is starting to come loose so no sound sometimes and I have to wiggle the connection. I'm most likely going to get B&W P5's to replace these.

The HD 280s sound like mud and aren't very comfy and I rarely use them. I need closed headphones though... There's a guy selling a pair of Beyerdynamic DT250-80's on craigslist in my area for $40 I'll most likely go with those if I like them.

HD 650s are comfy but have WAY TOO MUCH bass. I'm thinking about getting another brand. I've limited my choices down to:
Denon AH-D5000
Beyerdynamic DT-990 pro
Audio-Technica ATH-W1000X
Grado SR80
Ultrasone Pro 2900

What are your opinions?

tl;dr:
Getting 3 new headphones - 1 on-ear studio monitor, 1 over-ear closed, 1 over-ear open, need suggestions price doesn't matter but not paying more than $600 per can, already have amps

I don't really thing there's a pair of headphones on the market with better bass reproduction than the Denon D5000s.

I'm loving my D5000s, the lows are easily the best part of these headphones; yet the details and clarity really aren't far off from the open AKG K702s. Mids are great too.

How can you say the Sennheiser HD 650s have way too much bass? :/ Normally I'd only hear some one say that with the Beyerdynamic DT770s or the Denon D5Ks.

B&W P5s are absolutely fantastic headphones as well btw b)

Well for me the bass seems to overpower lows and mids so sometimes it sounds muddy
