Another note, does Google still have the GPDF plugin to open pdfs via google docs? Or something of the sorts...

Java hasn't been safe since SUN was bought by Oracle, like 3 - 4 years ago. The best you can do is disable it in your browser, and only enable it for sites, that absolutely require it.

Because SUN was a small company and Oracle is a huge company....they don't seem to put as much effort into Java as SUN did, when they still produced Java.

Like I said, the best way to deal with these issues, is just disable them in your browser and only enable them if you need to for a certain site.
