Shit works nicely lol. I can almost guarantee it's better than most of the kids mics playing games.

Eh, listen to a recording of yourself, notice the shit frequency response.

Will do and compair to my other mics. I doubt there will be much of a difference vs my other logitech headsets.

Compared the two mics (logitech headset vs electret mic) and there is indeed a frequency range difference, but I actually like the limited range on the electret. It falls just within the voice range so all other noises are pretty much drowned out without even adding a filter onto it. My logitech mic would pick up all sorts of other noises like interference hissing, fans rotating, and a bunch of other shit.

On Tuesday I am going to pick up some heat shrink tubing and slide a length of coat hanger in with the wires for maybe 6 inches and then shrink over top of the entire length of the cable (about 6 feet). The coat hanger will allow me to attach a clip onto it and make the mic adjustable from my monitor or stand.

Also I am a big dummy. I discovered you need to bridge both channels with the positive side of the mic or else you get one dead channel.

Got some 14awg wire and some ceramic isolators recently... it's time to build my antenna. Anyone know of good 40 meter designs? (7.xxxmhz)

I've been looking into a folded dipole but it seems high maintenance when trying to back pack it and set it up remotely because of having to trim it for resonance.

Was also thinking about making a magnetic loop as they are easily portable and easy to tune, but requires a high voltage variable compositor.

Maybe a long dipole would work but it's like 65 feet long.

Fucking antennas.

capacitor*

What the hell is a compositor. Silly firefox.

40 meter dipole antenna I'm making for my low power CW rig. It's about 67 feet long and hasn't been trimmed to tune yet. I need to put another coat of liquid electrical tape over the coaxial joint and then rig up some pulleys to my shop and tree so that I can raise and lower it when I need to adjust the tuning or move it to another site.

Antenna is going to be about 25 feet above ground spanning about 66 feet across when tuned with a swr meter.

My radio is dead. I have no idea what is wrong with it...

I spent about 8 hours between yesterday and today on it and still can't get it to work.

The problem is that there is absolutely no RX incoming signal noise, static or otherwise, coming from the radio. I tested the IC units separately, the quad nand gate on a breadboard testing each gate with a LED, the LM386 creating a small amp circuit, and using a SDR radio to test the RF noise on the mixer because I don't have a oscope, and they all appear to be working.

After that I checked the voltage to all the chips and they are getting proper voltage as well.

Next I checked the transistors and noticed their instructions were wrong which told me to install a PNP transistor in place of a NPN transistor, which is why the LED was not functioning properly. After replacing a few suspected faulty transistors I still get dead silence on the radio.

The only things left to replace is 2 more transistors, one of them being the final amplifing transistor, and the NE602 which is in charge of the RX/TX filtering. If the NE602 is dead then it would explain why the radio is dead silent. Unfortunately I do not have a spare for the IC.

At this point it is almost worth my time to salvage the working parts and design/make my own radio based off the rockmit or Pixie2 schematics.
