I've never used over the ear before. I know with some of my friends I have felt the weight of them across the top of my head.
I have klipsch s4s. I've never heard "premium sound" before so I've been curious what all the fuss is about and if I think it's worth the money

If I won't be able to discern much difference from a recommendation vs my klipsch, I probably wouldn't be interested. I'm not sure how far along I'd need to go before I noticed a difference

Some review on amazon said the sennheiser hd 598s were $99 on a flash black Friday sale (last yr). If I can find that somehow id 100% do that just to finally satisfy my curiosity in this "audiophile grade" sound thing you all love so much

What kind of sound are you looking for? v-shaped? neutral? basshead? treble-prominent?

The HD 598 and M50 sound completely different, but still easy to listen to. I would only use the HD 598 (treble-prominent) when I played fps games. Sennheiser makes really comfortable headphones. I used the M50 (neutral with a bit more bass) mostly for movies and music. Not very comfortable until you get velour earpads.
