After debating for extended periods of time about running cables and needing to buy multiple parts for a complete set up I've come full circle.

Please don't roast me. I am simply asking the question:

Are there any sound bars that you might actually recommend? General entertainment use (TV music movies). The simplicity and price is attractive to me. I know they arent "true" sound

Why not just get a simple 2.1 or 2.0 setup?

It will have better quality/Look nicer (imo) Than a sound bar.

If you wanted the daytons.. All you need is the 2 dayton speakers, an amp & a sub if wanted.

Simple as that.

You could get self-powered speakers if wanted.

Whats your budget? Do you want a sub?

I'd probably need to keep it under $300. Honestly the lower the better. Amazon reviews were pretty happy with the $78 Vizio bar 2.0 lol. Yes I know, not sound guru reviews.

You are gonna get better sound buying JUST a nice 5.1 amp and a center channel, then even more amazing sound when you add the Front left/right and satellite rears, top the cake with a sub

If not, like others have said, a nice 2.0 (just front left and front right) or 2.1 (adds a sub) will give you a tremendous amount of additional depth

Soundbars, yeah, they will blow built in speakers out of the water, but the same can be said for a $20 2.1 system vs laptop speakers, it isn't a measure of how good the soundbar is, but how mediocre most flatscreen speakers are

Stay far away from those sound bars if you want decent sound quality! For 300 you can get pretty nice setup already, for example:

2x (listed as single units) these active monitors for really nice stereo setup, sub can be added later if desired: https://www.amazon.com/Behringer-B2030A-BEHRINGER-TRUTH/dp/B000Q6EHA2

Or pretty nice 2.1 setup with these:
https://www.parts-express.com/lepai-lp-2020a-tripath-class-t-hi-fi-audio-mini-amplifier-with-power-supply--310-300 (Would be better to get used AVR from craigslist for 50-100€, could look one for you if I knew where you are from)
https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-b652-air-6-1-2-2-way-bookshelf-speaker-with-amt-tweeter-pair--300-651
https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-sub-1200-12-120-watt-powered-subwoofer--300-629

Edit: Craigslist also has some really nice stereo pair of speakers for good price, so would be worth to take a look for used pair of speakers + AVR from there as well.
