I relooked at the listings...no Quad yet one 6 core and 2x 8 cores :/

From all the 100's of reviews...it seems the 8 core ONLY shows it's stuff in multi threaded apps at very high resolutions...so far. Keep in mind this is a VERY early revvision, and the motherboards that will take the CPU are new also...I fully expect much better performance when the NEW motherboards / chipsets come out and all the obbvious bugs have been worked out.

Right now, it's still Intel's show, but I expect that to change in 3-5 months time.

$700 for an ivy bridge that isn't a gaming cpu imo

$150~ for a godly quad core BD that will slap competition

Hmmmm.. I'll take the 120GB SSD + 990FX + Quad BD + New case + 7xxxx series gpu for $700 bob.

"sorry wrong answer, the right answer is $1.5k for IB, 2x8GB sticks of ram, new dead socket mobo"

Oh I realize that...but I still think a CPU that can overclock on LN2 and Liquid helium that well...has the issues it has in personal comps due to a lack of fine tuning so to speak...hell the motherboards came out months before the CPU... LOL

This reminds me of the AM2+ BS we went thru...like I said I fully expect much better performance, with later steppings and motherboards / chipsets made AFTER the companies learn the ins and outs of the new AMD FX architechture. It seems fairly clear...that due to this new architecture, assumptions were made by the motherboard / chipset companies, that have proven horribly wrong.

This CPU already shows its muscle in heavily threaded programs and at ONLY very high resolutions...sound to me like chipset not very compatible with this new architecture.

Yes I'm an AMD fan boy, an ASUS fan boy and an EVGA nVidia fan boy...no doubt about that. But, after watching new CPU's and mobo's come out for last 10 years..this won't be the first time the chipset and the CPU, worked against each other instead of together.

Hell, my current 955 is one of the C2 steppings, and my mobo has definite chipset / CPU problems, that leave my max OC at 3.823, if I had waited another 2-4 months, I'd be rocking 4-4.2Ghz instead ^^

if intel get's beat (2700k ect)
they will EASILY drop an ivy down to general market that torches it.. to think they wouldn't is short sighted. now they really don't have to, but only time will tell.

Same with me and my 965BE C2 lol, I purchased it in Oct 2009 the month of its release. If I had waited 1 more month I would have gotten the C3 revision >_<

If Cadillac just started selling their cars for $10K then nearly anyone could afford them which would allow the market to be flooded with these cars. Yet they don't because they want as much money as possible :3

Point is..we don't know anything ...YET. Just ask Canadian_man about the pre B3 rev SB motherboards ^^

We know it happens all the time...I'm not gonna upgrade till June 2012...then, whoever's on top at a reasonable price point will get my money.
