answering a question with a question I see

plz tell me how idle temps matter??

cuz I can passively cool an overclocked cpu and keep it at 30 degrees idle, but wont last long once load hits, da fucking ghot logic

As for idle temps..it doesn't matter if they are idle or load...physics is physics.
Most ppl do NOT buy reference cards. Reference cards DO exhaust out the back of the comp. Non - reference cards do as well, but not as much. Hence, they raise the ambient temp in the case.
When the ambient in the case is higher, all other temps will be higher, w/e "normal"cooling method you use.

When you keep the ambient in the case lower you can overclock higher. Again, simple physics.

I have explained this at least 50 times over the years. I would think that by now, some of the regulars would understand it.

Man you guys argue too much. That's why I don't post here very much. Everyone is in a perpetual state of butt hurt. Like you nerds get angry when someone isn't as nerdy as you. I think AbDuCt us the biggest offender on that one. Though when it comes to Ghot, a good many of you just can't stop whining. Every thread is an argument, complaint, bitch, moan, whine, gripe, and so on. That's probably why Mel and some others hardly ever post anymore. Oh man. Too nerdy for me.

Actually this topic is about the GTX 1080, and I commented that I had said what JayzTwoCents said, long before he did.

Seems that a few ppl got upset with that comment I made, and tried to change the topic to ones they felt they could argue????

Besides how ambient temp in a case affect BOTH idle and load temps, I learned long ago, that a cup of coffee in the morning (or tea...etc) does a lot more to ease one into the day, than Ghot bashing does.
Maybe in a few more years, YOU will learn that as well.


As for whether ambient case temps affect idle and load temps, that's an easy Google my friend. ^^

lol wow now you go into ambient temp, idle temps mean shit my d14 would keep my 2500k at 28 idle, guess what happened when I unplugged its fans? idle temp was 28, why cuz the cpu wasnt producing heat, now guess what happened when I stressed it?
